The ThaiFDA has issued the amended Medical Device Act (Issue 2) B.E. 2562 (2019), which will come into effect in October 2019. This second version supersedes the initial Medical Device Act BE 2008.

According to the latest publication (No. 135) B.E. 2561 (2019) regarding the safety of teeth whitening products, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai-FDA) decided that teeth whitening products containing ≥6% hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide or other agents which have 6% or more hydrogen peroxide present or released are classified as Notified Medical Devices. The notification also include labeling requirements for such products are also published in this document.
